Disneyland Resorts Assisted Listening Device



As you know a lot of Disney Parks attractions include a story told in video. Also there are many shows that if you can’t hear it is hard to enjoy. Disney has a solution! You can borrow their Assisted Listening Device. You leave a $25 deposit that is returned to you when you return the device to Guest Relations. You will be given written information on where the device can be used and what aids are available around the resort.

The Assisted Listening device as several functions that can be of help to both the hearing and visually impaired guest. Here is what the device does. For the visually impaired it acts as a remote control to activate caption-ready monitors in the preshow areas of specific attractions. Monitors with the “CC” symbol on them can be activated by the remote control. It also acts as Handheld “CC” that displays text in locations where fixed captions systems are not practical, such as moving attractions. It also works for some shows. Another function is Assistive Listening Systems. It will amplify sound via headphones or induction loop at specific attractions/shows.

There are written aids, packets containing attraction dialogue and narration, flashlight, pencil and paper are available for several attractions and shows. You can ask at City Hall, Central Hub Information at DL or at Guest Relations at DCA for a listing of all available written aids.

Sign Language Interpretation is provided for guests at specific live Theme Park shows on a rotating basis. You can get a schedule of sign language interpretation a minimum of 7 days in advance by calling Disneyland Resort Guest Relations at (714) 781-6176 or (714) 781-7292 [TTY]. Guests will be contacted prior to their visit with show schedule that lists the names, dates and times of interpreted performances.

Sign Language interpretation can be requested for special events and shows with a minimum of 14 days advanced notice. Call Disneyland Resort Guest Relations at (714) 781-6176 or (714) 781-7292 [TTY]. You will be contacted prior to your visit to verify arrangements.

Reflective Captioning is available at several theater-type attractions. To use the Reflective Captioning just ask the Cast Member at the location for assistance.

All Disneyland Resort telephones can be amplified with the “#” key or by using a separate volume button on the phone. Pay phones with TTY are available.

This device can also assist the Visually Impaired when the GPS mode is turned on. It will describe where you are and what attractions and services are available where you are.
