D23 Expo 2015 ~ Disney Store to Unveil All-New Product Collections at D23 Expo 2015

DISNEY STORE TO UNVEIL ALL-NEW PRODUCT COLLECTIONS AT D23 EXPO 2015

Glendale, Calif. — July 23, 2015 — Disney Store today announced the all-new collections and Limited Editions set to launch at this year’s D23 EXPO 2015, Disney’s ultimate fan event held at the Anaheim Convention Center August 14–16. Located within the Disney Consumer Products Pavilion at D23 EXPO, the Disney Store shop will feature new and exclusive products showcased throughout more than 3,000 sq. ft. of retail space. New items celebrating everyone’s favorite characters will be unveiled each day throughout the weekend.

In addition to offering attendees the chance to shop special products not yet available to the general public, fans will also have the chance to meet the artists and designers who created these exciting new collections and be treated to the official Disney Store opening ceremony on Friday, August 14. During the ceremony, a special attendee will be chosen to “unlock imagination” at 9 a.m. alongside some of Disney's most famous characters.

D23 EXPO attendees will get a first look at collections making their debut at the event, including the next installment of the popular Disney Fairytale Designer Collection; a Limited Edition Doll Collection from ABC Studios’ television series Once Upon a TimeToy Story 20th Anniversary; and Disney Tsum Tsum.

Highlights of the new collections include:

·         Disney Fairytale Designer Collection – Happily ever after meets happily evil in Disney Store’s newest series of the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection being previewed at D23 EXPO. Featuring five sets of Limited Edition pairs, these collector doll sets were designed by Disney Store artists and carefully crafted to capture the beauty and romance of fairytale friends and foes.

Available for the first time at D23 EXPO, guests can pre-purchase the complete set of five Hero/Villain pairs prior to the general public pre-sale beginning online Monday, September 14.

Following the preview at D23 EXPO, the doll sets will be released and available for purchase in stores and online starting September 29, with a new pair released each week. Each set is limited to an edition of 6,000 globally and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

This line expands into a collection of apparel, mugs, journals, home décor and more, available to the general public in stores and online on September 14.

·         Once Upon a Time – Continuing the ‘heroes and villains’ theme, Disney Store will introduce the Once Upon a Time Snow White and Evil Queen Doll Collection, available exclusively at D23 EXPO. Limited to an edition of 300, the doll collection, inspired by ABC Studios’ television series Once Upon a Time, brings to life the beauty, magic and charm of the iconic fairytale characters from the show.

Exclusively for guests who purchase the doll set at D23 EXPO, Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White) and Lana Parrilla (The Evil Queen) will be available for an autograph signing at the ABC booth on the D23 EXPO floor from 4 – 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 15. This special opportunity will be followed by the Once Upon a Time panel taking place in Stage 23 from 6 – 7 p.m.

·         Star Wars – Disney Store will launch an exclusive collection of Star Wars items at the EXPO on Friday, August 14. The collection will feature apparel, collectibles, and toys, including the Star Wars Elite Series, a new line of highly articulated and detailed die cast action figures, representing characters from Star Wars Episodes I-VI. The action figures will be sold individually at Disney Store locations beginning later this year; however, EXPO attendees have the opportunity to purchase the full set of Star Wars Elite Series action figures, which includes D23 EXPO-exclusive versions of R2-D2 and C-3PO.

Additionally at D23 EXPO, Disney Store will introduce Star Wars Legion Helmets, a series of eight vinyl collectible helmets inspired by the Star Wars Legion Helmet project launched in early 2014. Celebrating creativity and Star Wars, the project pulled together artists from across The Walt Disney Company, resulting in 300 stormtrooper helmets being transformed into diverse pieces of art, which inspired these collectible recreations – epic additions to every Empire.

·         Toy Story 20th Anniversary – In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Disney∙Pixar's Toy Story, Disney Store gleaned art from the adored film’s archives to illustrate the evolution of the beloved characters, Buzz and Woody. Featuring toys, collectibles, apparel and more, this collection will be released at the Disney Store shop at D23 EXPO on Friday, August 14.

·         Disney Tsum Tsum – All-new collections of everyone’s favorite stackable plush will be unveiled at D23 EXPO, with one releasing each day in limited quantities in mini, medium and large sizes. In addition, limited-edition mini box series – exclusive to D23 EXPO – will be released along with each collection, and a Mickey Mouse Tsum Tsum mini vinyl figure will be available for $5 with any purchase, while supplies last.

Also launching at D23 EXPO is Disney Store’s “Disney 3D Print Studio,” which offers fans the chance to personalize figures, including Marvel’s Iron Man, with their likeness through the use of facial-scanning kiosks. The figures ordered at the event will feature packaging unique to D23 EXPO.

New this year, in an effort to minimize wait times for guests, D23 is introducing StorePass at select D23 EXPO shopping locations, including the Disney Store shop. A limited quantity of StorePass tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 14, and while they last, at the StorePass desk located adjacent to the StagePass distribution area in Hall A. First Time Disney Cruiser Tips

First Time Disney Cruiser Tips

So you are considering or have booked your very first Disney Cruise. Congratulations!!!! You are going to have one amazing vacation!

So what are some things you should know to make the most out of your Disney Cruise? I’ll start out with things you should know from booking your cruise to what to do before you go and then move onto what to do when you board the ship.

First off let’s talk about booking your cruise. You can book directly with Disney on their website or by calling them. You can also find your friendly and trusted Disney Certified (they took the College of Disney Knowledge training) Travel Agent and book with them. The reason I say Disney Certified is twofold. One, to be associated with Disney you cannot charge extra fees for booking vacations for your client. In other words you, the client will not be charged more for going through the Travel Agent than if you had booked yourself. Two, having gone through the training at the College of Disney Knowledge they have more expertise in handling your booking and questions. Why not do it yourself? The agent should watch for any problems and handle them. If any unforeseen problems arise the agent should take care of it for you. The agent should be willing to book all the little things such as Port Adventures and even your Shipboard Adventures such as spa time and meals at the Adult Only Palo and Remy Restaurants.

No matter how you book your cruise book early. This is to save you money. The closer to the date of the cruise the quicker and more the price goes up. It takes a small deposit to book your cruise and then you can make payments or pay it off by the date Disney Cruise Line sets. (Check this link for more information on when your cruise must be paid for. In most cases it is 75 days before sailing. For some special cruises and cabin categories it is further out. https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/planning-center/my-cruise-plans/faqs/booking-reservations/apply-payment/)

Also there are several other money saving tips besides booking early. Purchase Disney Gift Cards at Target Stores using your Target Red Card (Debit or Credit) and save 5%. Use the gift cards to pay off your cruise! You can also use these gift cards to pay for shopping on the ships, Port and Shipboard Adventures along with anything else that could be charged to your cabin. Use the Disney Vacation Savings Account (https://disneyvacationaccount.disney.go.com/) to help you keep to a savings plan. Charge your Disney Cruise to your Disney Visa and get 6 months interest free to pay! Also get an On Board Credit from Disney.

Oh yes! Now that I mentioned it On Board Credit (OBC) needs to be explained. On Board Credit is what a Travel Agent or Disney will give you to spend on the ship. This goes onto your shipboard account and can be used to pay everything from gratuities to Port/Shipboard Adventures. Any money spent on the ship goes through your Shipboard Account! Many travel agents offer an incentive for booking with them. They give you an OBC based on the price of your cabin.

*** Booking Tips ***
Big Tip 1 *** You don’t have to pay extra to book with a Travel Agent!!!
Big Tip 2 *** A Travel Agent will do all the work while you plan to play!!!
Big Tip 3 *** There are a few ways to save money! Watch for them and use them.

Once you have booked there are still things to do before you go. If you have a Travel Agent ask them what date you can book your Adventures. Before that date look at the things to do on the ship and in ports. Decide what you would like to do and on the first available day book it if you can. You don’t have to pay until you travel. If you decide to change your plans that is ok! You can cancel adventures before you sail if you wish! Make sure you know the last date you can cancel and change plans. Many Travel Agents will handle booking your chosen Adventures for you if you wish. You also need your last date to pay and date for online booking.

Why should you book your Port and Shipboard Adventures before you go? Because they are limited and fill up fast! Your dream of a once in a lifetime swim with the dolphins could be crushed if you wait until the day you get onboard and that Port Adventure is full! Also why spend your precious and hard earned vacation time booking adventures you could have done from home in spare time? Palo and Remy fill up quickly as well. Don’t want to miss some adult quiet time!

How do you find out what is available to do?? Go to DisneyCruise.com and look at the Port Adventures offered for your ports of call. Then go look at the things to do on the ship. Decided if Palo or Remy are something you would like to do. Would you like some Spa time? That can be booked beforehand as well. Check out what they offer! Remember once you choose your adventures your Travel Agent can book them for you.

Are you interested in making friends onboard? Consider joining a Facebook Group set up for your cruise. These are NOT associated with Disney but set up by fans. Just do a search on Facebook. For example cruising January 9th, 2016 on the Fantasy I search for Fantasy January 9th, 2016 and find Disney Fantasy January 9th, 2016 (Inaugural Star Wars Day at Sea) Cruise. Here you will find people you can meet up with on the ship. Maybe you have kids and you want to preset playmates. Maybe you have someone in your group in the awkward age of 18-23? Too old for the Kids Clubs yet too young for the Adult scene. See if they have other people that age to mix and mingle with. You can join a Fish Extender Group (FE) (Click here for more information on Fish Extenders http://pixiepranks-panstinkerbell.blogspot.com/2012/03/fish-extender-what-is-it-why-should-i.html), Door Decor is also something fun to work on and you can learn more in a group (Here is a link to more information http://pixiepranks-panstinkerbell.blogspot.com/2012/03/disney-cruise-line-door-decor.html) In a group you can ask questions about Disney Cruising and get answers from the pros, people who have been there done that. You don’t have to join the FE Groups or decorate your door if you don’t wish to. But they are both fun to do!

Make sure you have any necessary documents such as Passports and Original or Certified Copies of Birth Certificates so you can do your online check-in. Make sure they are packed to go with you as you will need them to board the ship! As the date gets closer know the dates to check in online and to book your Adventures as stated before. Have your Adventures picked out before the date so you can get in quickly and book them before they fill up.

If you are a US citizen and leaving and returning to a US port technically you do not need a Passport. BUT, it is advisable to have one just in case of emergency. If something were to happen while in a non US port you could have problems getting home without one.

Download the FREE Navigator App to your smart phone and/or tablet. With it at home you can keep a countdown until your cruise. Lots of fun! Once on the ship it will become invaluable! It will give you the daily and complete cruise schedule of events so you can make plans wisely. It allows you to keep in touch with other people onboard the ship, allowing you to send messages to each other. It lets you set reminders for events you don’t want to miss on the ship. (More app info here http://pixiepranks-panstinkerbell.blogspot.com/2015/02/disney-cruise-line-navigator-app.html)

Pack wisely. Ask your Travel Agent for a suggested packing list for your chosen destination and season. Know what items are not allowed (Check out this link for prohibited items https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/planning-center/my-cruise-plans/faqs/prohibited-items/prohibited-items/) Make sure you have all necessary items such as medication in the original bottles and medical equipment.

Plan for FUN!!!! Check your health, make sure the activities you wish to do are suitable for YOU. Plan ahead and deal with any health issues you can. Do you have special needs members of your group? Find out all the information you can and prepare them. Explain what will be going on and what will be available for them. Encourage them to be part of the planning process if possible. Be aware that not all Port or Shipboard Adventures are suitable for all guests. At non US ports the vendors do not have to comply with the US ADA laws. There is still plenty to do. Disney Cruise Ships and Disney’s Castaway Cay is compliant with ADA laws and very inclusive.

Notify Disney Cruise Line of all allergies or special medical needs before the cruise. Let the cruise line know if you have a young child that is using formula. If anybody uses a CPAP and needs water for it let them know and it will be provided free of charge.

*** After Booking / Pre-Cruise Tips ***
Big Tip 1 *** Know important dates such as last day to pay, online booking date and when you can book Port and Shipboard Adventures
Big Tip 2 *** Discuss what Adventures you wish before dates to book open.
Big Tip 3 *** Join a group! Maybe join a Fish Extender Group
Big Tip 4 *** Get your documents in order! Passports can take 6-12 weeks to process! You WILL need them to board the ship!
Big Tip 5 *** Download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App
Big Tip 6 *** Plan your fun! Especially if you have special needs members of your group. Know what is available and where things are limited.
Big Tip 7 *** Disney Cruise Line can only help you IF you tell them your special needs. This includes allergies and special medical needs.
Once on the ship switch your Navigator App to active. This requires turning your phone to Airplane Mode and following a few on screen directions. Use the app to send messages to family, friends and fellow passengers you become friends with. Check the above link for more information on the use of the app. Also make sure you take advantage of the printed Personal Navigator that is left in your stateroom every day. The Navigator is a schedule of all the things happening on the ship. One of the special things on longer cruise that you should be looking on the Navigator app for are special Disney Behind the Scenes events. They have Disney Imangineers and others give talks. You can learn a lot of interesting things at these events. There are also The Art of Disney Entertainment sessions. At these you can learn how to make some of the special foods served at Disney locations. There are also special tours of the ship. My favorite is the Art of the Theme Ship Tour.

One of the first things to do on the ship is the Sail Away Deck Party. This is an amazing party on the deck of the ship. They cover the pools and turn them into places where you can dance and dance you do. This is the best thing to take your young children too. At this party the youth councilors are introduced. The kids will get excited about the Kids Clubs at this party.

Now that you are on the ship relax and have fun!! Let the kids enjoy the Kids Clubs and you enjoy the adult spots! Enjoy the family time together!

Hidden Mickey Adventures #4 Revenge of the Wolf By Nancy Temple Rodrigue

Hidden Mickey Adventures #4 Revenge of the Wolf
By Nancy Temple Rodrigue

Hidden Mickey Adventures 4 Revenge of the Wolf picks up where book 3 The Mermaid’s Tale leaves off.

If you have not read the series yet you are in for a treat! There are 7 books in the series in 2 sets. The first set is called Hidden Mickey and starts with Sometimes Dead Men DO Tell Tales! The books have an interesting premise. What if Walt Disney had left clues (Hidden Mickey’s) around for people to find. What if these clues lead to finding people who are willing and able to guard Walt Disney’s legacy. The second set is called the Hidden Mickey Adventures.

Throughout the set there is a security guard at Disneyland that not only helped Walt hide the clues he now guards and helps the current guardians of the Disney Legacy. Wolf is one interesting person with an interesting past and yes even future.

In book 4 of the Hidden Mickey Adventures Wolf finds his match in mystery woman who is determined to do what it takes to reach her goal of disrupting the current young guardians in training. She is a threat to the children Wolf is sworn to protect. But! There is more than meets the eye and more to be discovered!

This book is a great mix of Disney history and lore. If you are a Disneyland old timer and have gone to the park a million time these books will give you a new appreciation of the park. If you love the park and have not gone there in a while it will take you back and make it feel like you are there.

Inside Out ~ Review

Inside Out
Non Spoiler and Spoiler Review

Ever wondered what goes on inside your head? Come explore the possibilities in the new Pixar Movie Inside Out.

12 year old Riley’s parents move her from Minnesota to San Francisco, California. Riley does all she can to stay happy and look for the adventure and fun in the move.

Once they get to their new home things get interesting inside Riley’s head and we get an inside peek at what is going on.

This movie is suitable for all ages. The little ones will find the characters engaging and entertaining. This movie is a great way to get slightly older kids to talk about their feelings. Teens and Adults will find this movie just plain FUN. There are parts of the movie that left me crying.

I give this movie 2 wings way up!

SPOILER ALERT!!!!
STOP READING HERE IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS

The movie starts out with little Riley being born. Her primary emotion, Joy shows up. Whenever Riley gets sad, mad, afraid, angry or disgusted Joy turns it around for her. In quick snapshots you see Riley go up to be a young lady of 12.

Riley and her family move from Minnesota to San Francisco, California. Riley is scared and sad because of the move. Once inside the new home she is disgusted because the house is not what she expected or wanted.

As Riley goes through the emotions of the move Joy sees her various emotions and turns them around. When she sees a dead mouse in the house Joy gets her to think of the adventure of checking out her new room. When Riley sees her room and does not like it Joy gets her to think about how it will look when she decorates it. Then Riley finds her stuff will not be available for days! The moving van with all their stuff is lost!

The first day at the new school goes no better than the first day in the new home. The teacher calls on her Sadness takes control making Riley cry making things worse in Joy’s perception. Sadness accidently touches a happy core memory of Riley’s and turns it sad. Joy gets frustrated and trying to keep Riley happy asks Sadness not to touch ANYTHING but Sadness just keeps touching things.

At one point Sadness touches the controls and starts to make Riley sad. Sadness and Joy get into a little bit of an argument. The two of them get sucked into Riley’s long term memory storage. Joy has all of Riley’s core memories, the memories that give Riley her personality. So Riley basically has no personality.

With Joy and Sadness gone all that is left in Riley’s control room are Fear, Disgust and Anger. The three emotions each try to take control of Riley. They attempt to sound like Joy and see if they can make Riley happy. Instead they make things worse.

At one point you get a look into mom and dad’s control centers. You see mom trying to figure out what is wrong with Riley and dad being clueless about it. Dad puts his foot down and gets harsh with Riley when Riley’s Anger takes control and gets mouthy with dad. This just makes things worse.

Riley drops of out hockey and cuts off friends. She lies to her parents and steals her mother’s credit card so she can run away and go back to Minnesota to build new happy memories. Her emotional control room is destroyed. Riley can no longer feel emotions. Nothing Anger, Fear or Disgust try to do gets through.

Meanwhile Joy realizes that she has been trying to keep Riley from being sad. She sees that during some of Riley’s main core memories that helped create Riley’s personality there was some Sadness that finally turned to Joy. Joy had been separated from Sadness and now she looks for her, trying to get her back to the Control Room.

Joy and Sadness finally make it back to Riley's control room. Joy turns the controls over to Sadness and encourages Sadness to reach out to Riley. Riley responds to Sadness and returns home to her parents. Riley finally tells her parents she knows they “need her to be happy” but right now she can’t. She expresses her sadness and because of that her parents reach out to her helping her heal.

I feel the entire point of this movie is to show us that all emotions are important and have their place. If we are always Joyful we miss out on having people reach out to help us. If we are always Sad we don’t see the Joy in life. Anger can keep us from communicating clearly and Fear can keep us both safe and keep us from trying new things. Disgust can also keep us from new experiences.
