Construction of The Disney Destiny!

 Construction of The Disney Destiny!

-----------

Disney Adventure had to do her Float Out before the Disney Destiny because of the size of the ship. Work, on the Disney Destiny can be completed inside the Meyer Werft shipyard facility until they are ready to do the pre Sea Trial final testing of the systems. I’m expecting within the next 3 to 4 months Disney Destiny will be Floated Out.

Disney has announced that the building of the Destiny Ship is finished but testing and installation of special systems by Disney Imagineers are being installed. Once the testing of the ships systems that can be done inside the shipyard building are completed, Destiny will fallow her sisters and Float Out. There they will do the final pre Sea Trials testing and the she will float down the Ems River for her Sea Trials.

During the Sea Trials they will push the ship to the maximum. They will see how fast she can go, how quickly she will stop, and her turning radius along with other things. They will test the ships engines in real world situations, generators, electoral systems, ventilation systems and everything else. Once Sea Trials are completed the ship will be turned over to Disney Cruise Line.

After the hand off The Disney Destiny will take a 2 week transatlantic trip to the US. While on her way the Imagineers will finish up the last of the work installing things, crew will learn their jobs and performers will have their final practice before taking guests.

Once in the US Disney Destiny will be Christened and go on a few media cruises before taking her Maiden Voyage November 20th, 2025.

Just Revealed: New Merchandise Collections Exclusive to the Disney Destiny

By Disney Destinations

Disney Fans know the part of the fan of any vacation is searching for the perfect keepsake (or two!) and today, we’re giving a sneak peek at the magical mementos awaiting onboard the Disney Destiny when it begins its inaugural season this November. Whether guests are looking for something to wear, share, adorn or admire, these four brand-new merchandise collections will be the perfect way to commemorate their legendary vacation aboard our incredible new ship.

Disney Destiny Inaugural Collection

A commemorative keepsake from the Disney Inaugural Collection will be a must-have for guests sailing during the ship’s debut season. Crafted in the deep blue, rich purple and gleaming gold hues of the Grand Hall, this expansive assortment will feature eye-catching  wearables, beautiful homewares and elegant pieces from favorited brands like Loungefly and Pandora.

Disney Destiny Logo Collection

The Disney Destiny Logo Collection will boast the trendy adult apparel and accessories featuring both the Disney Cruise Line Logo and a custom like drawing of the bow of the ship. The bold, stylish design will be modern and simplistic, with sleek tone-on-tone patterns and striking palette of onyx and gold – perfect for stand-out pieces that command attention.

Super Character Collection

Inspired by the ship’s “heroes and villains” theme – and emblem of Hero Minnie on the bow filigree – the Super Character Collection will offer one-of-a-kind souvenirs for the whole family. The fun and playful artwork imagines Minnie Mouse, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto as a daring crew of “hydro heroes,” each with their own unique super powers. Featuring vibrant, colorful graphic designs reminiscent of comic book drawings, the collection will include everything from apparel and accessories to plush, pins and drinkware.

Disney Destiny Ship Collection

Honoring the ship’s unique personality and distinctive character features, the Disney Destiny Ship Collection will offer signature Disney vacation souvenirs. With a themed spirit jersey, ear headband, ornament, beach towel, pin and more – most inspired by the statue of Spider-Man that will adorn the stern – this line will be essential for Disney Cruise Line enthusiasts who are gathering their own collection of ship-specific keepsakes from across the fleet.

Bonus! Disney Destiny DisneyBand+

Beginning in late May, guests who have booked a Disney Destiny Vacation can pre-order this brand-new Disney Destiny DisneyBand+ design, which features illustrations of Captain Minnie Mouse and the ship in a classic nautical color scheme. These waterproof wristbands add even more convenience, for fun and magic to their cruise experience – from seamlessly boarding the ship and accessing their stateroom to making purchases, linking photos to their account and beyond!

Guests sailing aboard the Disney Destiny’s maiden voyage on November 20 will have an exclusive opportunity to pre-order a selection of new Disney Destiny Merchandise and collector’s items later this summer. More details about this pre-sale event will be shared on maiden voyage guests’ MyReservation page in the coming months.

Guests can shop these new merchandise collections aboard the Disney Destiny during its inaugural season. Their legend awaits!

New Details on Villainous Experiences Aboard the Disney Destiny

New Details on Villainous Experiences Aboard the Disney Destiny

By Disney Destinations

Today, we’re revealing some of the fiendishly fun ways our favorite Disney villains, screamers and scoundrels will be celebrated aboard the Disney Destiny, our new heroes-and villains themed ship, when it sets sail this November.

And like every cruise aboard the Disney Destiny, we’re starting at the Grand Hall, where guests will be immersed in the epic duality of good and evil as the environment transforms throughout the cruise. Check out this never-before-seen concept art showcasing a wickedly cool new look for this incredible space!

Inspired by Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther,” the Grand Hall of the Destiny will transport you into a world of heroes and villains from the moment you step on-board. For most of the day, the Grand Hall will have a bright and optimistic energy – a hero’s welcome, if you will – but at any moment, it may morph into a mythical realm of mystery.

With 360-degree lighting effects that fill the room with life and color, the ever-changing space will react to the presence of certain characters, taking on the signature aura of some of the most legendary villains, rogues and mischief makers of Disney and Marvel lore.

One such transformation will take place with the arrival of Loki, the fan-favorite character from Marvel Studios’ films and the “Loki” television series. Intent on clearing his name with the mortals of Midgard, Loki will try to declare himself ruler of this vessel and its occupants.

True to his infamous ego and affinity for chaos-making, you’ll never know where Loki may turn up with a grand proclamation of his glorious purpose or dubious retelling of a well-known story. (He does have a penchant for rewriting history, after all.) The God of Mischief may even recruit unsuspecting guests for a surprise competition to prove their adoration for his royal highness, or command them to explain the strange foreign rituals of ocean cruising. (All-you-can-eat soft serve may be a new concept for the Asgardian, but I’m sure he will approve.)

Intrigued yet? Of, we’re just getting started, darlings.

Aboard the Disney Destiny, we’re introducing exclusive new ways to interact with some of your favorite Disney Villains … and we’re giving you a sneak peek at the devilish delights we’ have planned.

Not only is Cruella de Vil the inspiration behind a one-of-a-kind piano lounge on board the ship, but the legend herself will grace up with her fabulous presence during two brand-new entertainment experiences.

The first will be an opportunity for fashion-forward cruisers to put their personal style to the test on Cruella’s very own wretched runway, where the reigning rogue en vogue will provide live commentary – whether she’s fawning over an absolutely exquisite fashion choice or offering dreadfully honest advice. And when she hears the (horribly inaccurate) “Cruella de VilL” song playing on board, Cruella may recruit guests for a bit of treble-making as they create a more flattering musical tribute to her marvelousness.

Now, are you ready (are you ready?) for something a little more … mischievous? Then guests will get a kick out of the swindles and scams of the playfully sinister practitioner of the macabre, Dr. Facilier, who may be lurking around the Grand Hall with a dazzling parlor trick or sleight of hand. Guests can join him for a game of chance with nothing to lose.

That’s all for now, friends, but don’t you fret – there’s more wickedly good new about the Disney Destiny headed your way! Keep an eye out for future updates.

First Look at New “Disney Hercules” Stage how Aboard Disney Destiny

First Look at New “Disney Hercules” Stage how Aboard Disney Destiny

By Disney Destiny

Bless my soul, Disney Cruise Line is on a roll! We’re going “zero to hero” this week with an epic lineup of updates and reveals for the Disney Destiny, our new heroes and villains-themed ship that sets sail later this year. And today, we’re sharing a first look at the stunning new show that’s sure to prove “whose daring deeds are great theater” for a new generation of Disney cruisers!

“Disney Hercules” will stay true to the story and spirit of the beloved film with a fresh, contemporary retelling centered around the legendary soundtrack. Featuring a celebration of iconic songs like “Go the Distance,” “Sero to Hero” and “I Won’t Say I’m in Love.” this show will present incredible live renditions like you’ve never heard before through new musical arrangements inspired by soulfulness of gospel music with the energy of a pop-concert.

In addition to all of the songs from the film, “Disney Hercules” will include the theatrical debut of “Shooting Star,” a heartfelt ballad originally written for the movie by Alan Menken and David Zippel.

All of your favorite gods, mortals and mythical beings from the movie will be part of the story, many represented in surprising new ways.

Like the film, the Muses will be the show’s storytellers, and their over-the-top personalities and transcendent vocals will shine on the stage. High-Fashion costume designs will showcase the opulence of the gods of Mount Olympus and contrast starkly with the more understated and humble attire worn by the humans and creatures of Earth.

Award-winning puppet designer Michael Curry is bringing to life some of the tale’s mores larger-than-life characters through jaw-dropping puppetry, building on the innovative deigns we debuted in “Disney The Tale of Moana” aboard the Disney Treasure last year. Embodying the ship’s theme of “heroes and villains,” our new show will use these massive puppets to represent the mythological behemoths – like the multi-headed Hydra monster – that Hercules must defeat to fulfill his hero’s journey.

Developed exclusively for the Disney Destiny, “Disney Hercules” will be one of three stage shows aboard the new ship, along with fand-favorites “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular” and “Disney Seas the Adventure.”

Disney Cruise Line Wish/Triton-Class Ships Post 3 of 4 – The Destiny

Disney Cruise Line Wish/Triton-Class Ships – The Destiny

The Disney Destiny will be the 3rd in the Wish/Triton class of Disney Cruise Ships. At the time of this post, she is still in the Meyer Warft shipyard being completed. The Maiden Voyage is scheduled for November 20th, 2025

Disney Wish/Triton-Class Stats:

Gross Tonnage: 144,000 GT

Length 1,119feet / Beam 128 Feet / Draft 27.3 Feet

Number of Passenger Cabins: 1,254

Passenger Capacity: 4,000

Cruising Speed: 24 Knots

From the Disney Destiny’s maiden voyage, November 2025 she will do 3-5-Night cruises from Fort Lauderdale, Fl.

Exploring Disney Destiny:

Restaurants:

1923 is a step back into the Hollywood Goden days of 1923. It is themed to honor the creative genius of Walt Disney and the support of his brother Roy. In these two rooms you will find artwork and tools used to create many Disney Movies.

Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King is themed after the movie Lion King. This restaurant will have a Broadway style interpretation of the music of the Lion King. Enjoy the show while you dine

World of Marvel is themed after the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Enjoy the “Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix”. Groot wants to make sure Rocket gets the acknowledgement he deserves.

Shows:

The 3 Broadway-Style shows are Disney Hercules, Seas the Adventure, and Frozen, A Musical Spectacular.

Hercules is based on the movie Hercules.

Seas the Adventure stars Goofy and friends as they journey through uncharted waters.

Frozen, A Musical Spectacular is based on the movie Frozen.

All Disney Ships have the Sail a Wave/Sail Away deck party and Pirates Night. Some sailings have a Frozen themed Deck Party if they are not doing Pirate Night.

Disney Destiny has the AquaMouse, a Watercoaster/Dark Attraction at sea. With the use of screens, on the Destiny you will slip, slide and splash on the adventure, “Sing a Silly Song”. This will be a Disney Villain themed ride. It will also have all of the overlays from the other Wish/Triton-Class ships!

There is a fun lounge called the De Vil’s along with the Haunted Mansion themed lounge! Check out the “Spirits” and the drinks as you enjoy the sights, sounds and flavors of the Haunted Mansion! There is also the Skipper Society themed after the Jungle Cruise attraction from Disney Parks! At De Vil’s enjoy the 101 Dalmatians Cruella De Vil’s piano bar.

If you love the Haunted Mansion, 101 Dalmatians, Lion King, Hercules, Marvel, or Elsa and Anna this ship is a special treat for you. Yes, the other characters will be there as well.

Disney Destiny has more Accessible Cabins than most Disney’s ships. The venues themselves are Accessible but in my opinion the ship is not as accessible as it should be for some. If you have a mobility issue, be aware that this ship does not have any center elevators. If you are in the middle of the ship and want to go directly up or down a deck or 2 you will have to go to either the forward or aft elevators and walk back. There is no “jogging track” that goes around the ship, as it does on deck 4 or the first 4 ships of the fleet. Instead, you can walk outside from the forward to the aft elevators then you have to go inside to cross over to walk the same 1/3 of the ship on the other side or go upstairs. The pool deck is not one level and has small pools with steps all around. Be aware of this if you use crutches, walker, cane, wheelchair or scooter. This may not be the best ship for you.

There are lots of extra fun things to do on this ship. So many I’m not going to list them all. There is the Incredibles family race and the Alternate Reality game Uncharted Adventure! Make sure to download the Navigator App!

Disney Destiny Updates!! Latest News from the Heroes and Villains Ship! What Next?

 Disney Destiny Updates!!

Latest News from the Heroes and Villains Ship!

What Next?

By Disney Destinations

February 11th, 2025 - Bow Art

With the final block of the Disney Destiny  in place, the team at Meyer Werft shipyard can turn their attention to installing the unique exterior features that will distinguish the ship. First on the list is a whimsical art piece on the Disney Destiny’s bow, which depicts Minnie Mouse striking a valiant pose in her new heroic ensemble. With her cape billowing behind her, Minnie Mouse’s outfit symbolizes the Disney Destiny’s first-of-its-kind “Heroes and Villains” design theme.

The elegant, hand-painted filigree continues a longstanding Disney Cruise Line tradition dating back to the fleet’s first ship, the Disney Magic, with every Disney Cruise Line vessel having a distinct character-inspired image embossed on its bow. In the lead up to the Disney Destiny’s maiden voyage in November of this year, the team at Meyer Werft Shipyard will continue to add details to the ship’s exterior and interior.

March 24th, 2025 – Float Up!

Last week, the Disney Destiny completed another exciting construction milestone at Meyer Werft Shipyard when it touched water for the first time. The process known as “float up,” by flooding the building dock with water from the Ems River in order to lift the Disney Destiny from the floor of the chamber. The ship was then guided to another position in the hall, where the team will begin testing different systems onboard, including the main engines. In the coming months, the shipyard team will continue to focus on building out the legendary interior spaces coming to the Disney Destiny.

My thoughts:

Looking back at the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure I have an idea of the upcoming timeline. So far, I do believe The Destiny is ahead of schedule and will not miss her Maiden Voyage. Something unexpected would have to happen now to delay Meyer Werft handing the ship over.

June or July 2025 The Disney Destiny will do her Float Out where she will leave the shipyard building and move to the dock outside.

After the Float Out the ship will spend 1-2 months at the shipyard outside dock while they finish the inside of the ship and complete testing of all essential systems.

August-September 2025 the Disney Destiny will sail away from the port for Sea Trials. Sea Trials is where they that the ship out and test all systems under working conditions. They will take her up to full speed and do an emergency stop. They will test all navigational and emergency systems.

Sometime in September-October I expect the Disney Destiny to officially handed over to Disney Cruise Line. At this point she will make her Transatlantic Crossing for the first time. While they are doing the crossing they will be finishing any last minute things like specialty lighting, installing sound and other equipment for the theater and other venues, and maybe installing some carpet. During the crossing the crew members of the ship will be learning about her. They will practice serving in the main restaurants by serving the crew, and their families who are finishing installing things. The Cabin Stewards will be learning how to clean and set up cabins, by again taking care of those who are finishing the ship up. The entertainment crew will be practicing for the shows and the kids club will be open for the kids traveling with their parents. There will be a lot of things happening in the couple of weeks it will take them to arrive at their new home port in Fort Lauderdale. Fl.

When and where will the Christening of the Disney Destiny happen? That has not been announced yet. All the ships, except the Treasure were Christened at Port Canaveral, Fl. The Disney Treasure was Christened at Port of New York, NY. Keep your eyes open for the announcement!

Where will Disney Destiny call home Port? Fort Lauderdale, Fl.

When is the Disney Destiny’s Maiden Voyage? November 20th, 2025.

Three Things Everybody Wants to Know about Disney Destiny

Three Things Everybody Wants to Know about Disney Destiny

The most anticipated items during the revivals are the Bow Filigree, the Lobby Decor and the Lobby Statue Character and the Stern Character.

On the Disney Destiny Captain Minnie in her Adventures outfit will adorn the Bow! This was announced much earlier but as part of the main 3 highly anticipated items I’ve added it here.

The Grand Hall Lobby will be themed after Wakanda with a statue of Black Panther King, T’Challa with a Panther standing next to him. The imagineers worked with the costumers of the Black Panther movies to come up with the design using layers and multiple rings on the pillars to represent the banded armor and stacked jewelry. The Grand Hall Chandelier will invoke the amazing feeling of Vibranium, found in Wakanda.

The Stern of the ship will have a Marvel Superhero for the first time! Spider-Man and his Spider-bots are attempting to paint the filigree and name on the back of the ship. The webslinger himself and his amazing spider-bots will be attempting to paint the ship name and stern filigree.

Disney Destiny – Main Dining Rooms & Other Eats

Disney Destiny - Main Dining Rooms & Other Eats

Disney Destiny will have the same Rotational Dining Plan as all the other Disney Ships. Destiny will have 3 Main Dining Rooms. You will rotate through the restaurants. On a 4-night cruise you will go to 2 restaurants once and the 3rd restaurant twice. On a 5-night cruise you will go to 2 restaurants twice and the 3rd restaurant once. You will not know your rotation until you get on the ship.

Disney Destiny will have 2 of the same restaurants that the other Triton/Wish class ships (Wish & Treasure) have. 1923 and World of Marvel. The 3rd restaurant is Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King.

1923: This restaurant evokes the glitz and glamour of Hollywood in the 1920’s. It will have display cases showcasing artwork and other things from Disney, Marvel, Pixar and Lucas films. It is a walk back in time of Movie History.

World of Marvel: This restaurant takes you into the Marvel Cinemania Universe. This restaurant has a different story line than the other ships. Groot is trying to throw a birthday party for Rocket. So join the fun and see what happens!

Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King: This restaurant has Broadway style entertainment and storytelling to entertain you while you dine. You will hear the Lion King story and enjoy the music from the Lion King Movie.

Just off the Grand Hall there are 2 walk up Cafes. One is Megara, with a Greco-Disco theme. Megara from Hercules is the inspiration of this dining establishment. Merida of Brave is the inspiration for the Celtic themed location.

Edna A La Mode Sweetshop is a location to treat your Super Sweet Tooth! Edna took her sewing equipment and redesigned it to make sweets! Here you can buy candy, cookies, ice cream and gelato.

Coming back is Marceline Market and Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods for casual foods and buffet dining. These areas are on the Pool Deck and most items are included with your cruise fare.

For adults only Palo Steakhouse and Enchante by Chef Arnaud Lallement are returning! These are very popular getaways and do cost extra. Platinum and Pearl Castaway Club Members get one meal at Palo for free each cruise.

How do You Choose a Disney Cruise??

How do You Choose a Disney Cruise??

There are several ways to pick a Disney Cruise. First, I’ll say no matter where or what ship you sail on you will enjoy yourself. Here is the main questions to consider.

Are you more interested in what the ship has to offer or the Ports of Call? Personally I’m more interested in the ship but do enjoy the ports as well!

If you are more interested in what the ships have to offer, make sure you consider the following:

Restaurants – Some of the ships have 2 restaurants with shows during meals while others have only 1. The one with no show is more of an elegant restaurant with beautiful Disney theme but no real show.

Shows – Do you have a favorite Disney movie you would love to see in a live show? Check your ship!

Additional Offerings - Such as AquaDuck/AquaMouse and Incredible Sports area, AR Game on the app or Muppet Detective Agency, Kids Club offerings are slightly different between ships as well.

Length of Cruise – Some ships only offer 3 & 4-Night cruises while some offers 7-Night+ cruises.

If Ports of Call are what you are interested in make sure you look to see if the itinerary you are heading for has places you wish to go to.

Do you want a taste of Europe? Consider the Mediterranean cruises offered during the summer. Want to see Alaska? Go on the Wonder during the summer! Want an Island get away?? Any of the Bahaman or Caribbean Cruises are fantastic and will include a stop at one of Disney’s Private Ports, Castaway Cay, or Lookout Cay. In 2025 and beyond you can go on the Disney Adventure and check out ports in Asia and the South Pacific.

Disney Magic and Disney Wonder are the Classic Ships. They are twin sisters and very similar in style and build. Magic was the 1st of the Disney Ships and Wonder was the 2nd. These are the 2 smallest ships of the fleet. They do not have the AquaDuck or AquaMouse. Magic does have a much smaller slide called the AquaDunk that is fun. It is nothing like the AquaDuck or AquaMouse. They are beautifully themed and have a nautical design. 2 of the 3 main restaurants you will enjoy in the evenings have shows while you dine! You will see the Black and White walls of Animator’s Palate go colored and pictures on the wall come to life while you dine. In Tiana’s Place and Rapunzel’s Royal Table get ready for live music and entertainment while you dine! Shows are different in the Walt Disney Theater on the two ships. So you will see something different between them.

Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy are the second set of twins for the Disney Cruise Line. They are s little larger than the Magic and Wonder. They both have the AquaDuck, the first Water Coaster at sea. They have mini-Golf and the Muppet Detective Agency where you can solve a Muppet Crime! This is lots of fun for everyone. Only Animator’s Palate has a show. It will either be a version of Turtle Talk where Crush and friends come to talk to you during dinner. You may be asked to your own character, you will be given instructions to follow and you may see it come to life on the screens with classic Disney characters.

Disney Wish was the last ship to join the fleet in 2022. Her triplet sisters, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny will be joining in 2024 and 2025 respectively. Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and we assume Disney Destiny will have 2 restaurants with live shows during dinner. Wish and Treasure have the Marvel Cinematic Dining Adventure that has a show. Wish has Arendale a Frozen Dining Adventure and Treasure has Plaza Da Coco. Disney Destiny’s restaurants have not been announced as of yet. You will not find Animator’s Palate on these ships. The Wish and Treasure have the AquaMouse (The first Disney Attraction at sea. Part Water Coater like the AquaDuck and Part Dark Ride.) We can assume Disney Destiny will also have a version of AquaMouse. Wish has 2 story lines for AquaMouse. Treasure has 3 story lines planned. We have not even heard if Destiny will have AquaMouse or not, but can assume she will. I’m guessing she will get the 3 stories from the Treasure and add one of her own.

Little is known about Disney Adventure. What we do know is she was not purpose built for Disney. Disney found the ship sitting abandoned in a closed shipyard over ½ built. She was being built for a Chinese Cruise Line that went under during Covid. The shipyard also closed down due to Covid. Disney purchased the ship and had the shipyard that is building the Treasure take over completing the build and changing it to fit Disney design. We know she will be ported in Singapore for at least 5 years after she is complete. She is much larger than any of the other Disney ships. That is all we really honestly know about Adventure.

I’m going to tell you what I choose. I look at the restaurants and shows first. Then I look at the other onboard offerings. After that I look at the ports to see if I want to go there. If the ship is interesting, I don’t care about the ports because I’ll just stay on the ship, enjoying myself. I look for at least 2 restaurants with “shows” so Dram and Fantasy are lower on my list. I love longer cruises and only do short ones that leave from a local port.

I hope this helps you pick a cruise!!
