A Little Pixie Gets a Bike!

 

If you have been following my blog for the last couple of months you have hears bout Walt’s Basement doing a fund raiser to get a special bike for a precious little Pixie with special needs. The goal has been reached and Kaitlyn now has her bike! It was delivered last week and on last Sunday she was surprised with it.

Kaitlyn has Traumatic Brain Injury. The bike is designed to improve the strength in her weak left leg. It also will help her develop emotionally by helping her build her confidence. All the way around it will help her.

Kaitlyn’s family could not afford the bike on their own. This type of special made bike as a price take of $3,800!

Kaitlyn loves her bike so much she insisted on sleeping on it the first night.

City Stroller Rentals

City Stroller Rentals is a great company that supplies all your baby/child care needs when you are at any resort in the So California area or Bay Area of California. They will deliver a stroller, car seat, booster seat, portable crib and another child care item you need to your resort hotel. It is great to be able to take your stroller back to the hotel with you at the end of a day at the parks! You can even take them from the Disney Parks to other amusement parks or even the beach!

An Update On Kaitlyn's Bike Fund (1st posted 1/14/12)

As of 4/2/12 Kaitlyn has officially reached the goal to get her bike!
With the help of caring people $3,074 was raised of the  $3,714.
Freedom Concepts contacted Kaitlyn's mother and told her the bike is her's for the funds raised!

Kaitlyn is a sweet 8 year old active and loving girl, she has Traumatic Brain Injury resulting in permanent brain damage. Her mother's heart broke when they told her Kaitlyn would never walk or talk. Little Feisty Pixie, Kaitlyn beat the odds and relearned to walk and talk! Her smile will win your heart in a second.

Now Kaitlyn needs a special bike. It is not just for pleasure rides with family and little friends. Yes there will be the fun pleasure rides. This bike will help her strengthen her weakened left side. It will also be designed to be easy enough for her to use. The doctors ordered this bike for physical therapy but insurance does not cover it. She used a loaner bike that was slightly adapted for her temporary use during physical therapy so it is known she can use it and it does help her development. That use is limited. She needs more unrestricted use of the bike. She was sad when the bike was no longer available for her.

Not only will the bike help her physically it will also help her emotional and psychological development. This bike will give her freedom of movement that other kids have. That will help build her self esteem. Build the mind and the body will follow.

This special bike is very expensive, $3,714, it is this expensive because it will be designed just for Kaitlyn. It is also designed to "grow" with Kaitlyn so she will get years of use out of it. The cost is high but the reward for Kaitlyn is priceless.
