Your Disney Cruise Line Key to the World Card

Your Disney Cruise Line Key to the World Card

Let’s start off with what IS your DCL Key to the World Card! It is your Stateroom/Cabin door key. If you are in a Concierge Category Cabin, it also gives you access to the areas reserved for the Concierge Guests. It is used when charging things to your onboard account. You need it to get off and return to the ship when in port. In other words, your Key to the World Card is VERY important! Carry it around with you on the ship.

Returning DCL Cruisers get a lanyard to carry their Key to the World Card in. It will be in your cabin when you get there with your Castaway Club Gift. It also displays their Castaway Club Level! Silver gets a Silver Lanyard, Gold gets a Gold Lanyard, and Platinum get a Black Lanyard. First time cruisers do not get a lanyard. If you want to carry your Key to the World Card in a Lanyard and are a first-time cruiser, I suggest you get a Lanyard before sailing or on the ship.

Recently Disney Cruise Line updated its Key to the World Card. Gone is your Dining Rotation and Table Number. That information can be found in the Navigator App once you board the ship.

They also changed how you receive your Key to the World Card. You no longer get it in the Terminal when checking in. Instead, it is in a RFID shielding envelope on your Message Fish when you arrive at your cabin. If the envelope has not been opened no one, except your Stateroom Host(ess) can get into your cabin. Your card will not open the door until it is removed from the envelope. If your envelope is opened when you get there let your stateroom host(ees) know.

So, what IS on your DCL Key to the World Card??

1.       The Dates of your Cruise.

2.       The Name of the ship you are sailing on.

3.       A or M (Adult or Minor) This keeps the older teens from purchasing things they should not, like alcohol.

4.       Your Name.

5.       Your Castaway Club Level and your Castaway Club Number.

6.       The BIG letter is the Assembly Station you are assigned to in case of emergency. This will also be on the Navigator App.

7.       Are you a Disney Vacation Club Member? You will have DVC on your card.

8.       Do you have a Disney Chase Visa? You will have DCV on your card. (I may have the initials wrong.)

Here is some other interesting information. If you plan on changing guests from one cabin to another once you get to the port, you will not get a new Key to the World card made for them. You can change who is in what cabin, but you will get a blank Key to the World Card for them instead of one made with their name. They can no longer be printed on the ship.

If you are traveling with someone and you want them to have access to your cabin for any reason you can request a blank Key to the World Card for them. This is handy when traveling with someone who may need you to run back to their cabin to retrieve medication or other necessary items for them.

When will you be getting your next Key to the World Card?? I’m getting my next one in November 2022! I will also get one January 2023!!! Yes, I love Disney Cruising! I’m proud of all my DCL Key to the World Cards.
