Are Vacations Necessary?

 Are Vacations Necessary?

Vacations are expensive! Vacations take time away from other necessary things. Vacations are a luxury, right?? NO!! Vacations are NECESSARY!!

Vacations allow you to regroup, recover, and rest from your daily life. They give you a chance to step out of your little daily box and try new and try different things expanding your horizons. For children it is even MORE important!! It expands their minds by giving them new experiences they could not have at home. Vacations can allow them to learn about new cultures and places. It can be used to teach about accepting people who are different from them.

Vacations bring people together. When you go on a vacation with family and friends it is a time to make memories. Grandparents will have fun with the Grandkids, Adult kids will enjoy their Parents and kids. Friends come together. It is a shared experience that will bring you all closer. You will have memories to talk about in the future.

For the disabled it can be a chance to feel “normal”. They don’t have doctors to visit. Nobody can shove a needle in them or tell them what they can or can’t do. They can just experience life and breath. This is especially true if you are going to a theme park or cruise. Just make sure the destination is accessible for your disability. Talk to your medical support team before deciding to go.

For the elderly vacations are a blessing!! They have time with family and the family is focused on them. They are experiencing things that are out of the daily routine. For those with dementia this can bring unexpected and very positive results!! We took our 90 year old mum, who had Alzheimer’s on a Disney Cruise. 3 years later she could not remember our names, she knew we were family and we loved her. She DID remember the cruise and the wonderful time she had there! It was priceless!

Vacations ARE important!!! They are worth the money!! Money will always return. Memories will last!!!
