What is a Cruising Duck??

A Cruising Duck is simply a Rubber Ducky! Yup, you heard that right it is a bathtub toy Rubber Ducky!

 

So, what is the big deal?? Someone got the idea to make cruising more fun and they started telling other cruisers to look for Ducks that were also cruising! They hide them in plain site around the ship and others find them! This is not exclusive to any one cruise line and is widespread through the cruising industry. Cruise Lines tell their crew to leave the ducks for guests to find. They are aware of the fun the guests are having hiding and finding the ducks.

 

Here are the rules.

• ·       Place a Tag on the Duck stating, Date of the sailing, Ship Name, Cruise Line, Your Name.
• ·       Hide ducks in public areas only.
• ·       Do NOT hide ducks IN/Near the pool or in shops.
• ·       If you find one Keep or Hide You Decide!
• ·      Post a selfie of you and the Duck (hopefully taken where you found it) on social media with the hashtag #CruisingDuck. In the post put the date of sailing, Cruise Line, and name of the Ship.

Tags usually say something like

·        Oh what luck you found a Cruising Duck!

·        Con-Quack-ulations you found a Cruising Duck!

·        Keep or Hide You Decide!

What do you do if you find a Cruising Duck? “Keep or Hide You Decide!” You can keep or re-hide the duck! It is up to you! Take a selfie and post on social media with the Hashtag #CruisingDuck sharing where and when you found it.

 

How and where do you hide them? That is up to you!! Just make it a public space! Leave it on a table in the Buffett or away from the pool. Drop it in a bar, elevator or even the lobby! Just do NOT put it IN the pool for safety reasons. Do not leave it in a shop on the ship, for obvious reasons.

 

You can hide any type of duck. Most use the traditional Yellow Rubber Ducky. You can also find themed Ducks for all the major holidays, Disney or even Pirates and sailing! Some people crochet or make other types of ducks to hide. It is all up to your imagination!

Why play with Rubber Duckies?? Because it is FUN!!! It is nice to know other people took the time to buy, make and then hide ducks. It is enjoyable to be the person hiding because you know you will bring smiles to other people. It gives you one more fun thing to do on the cruise! WHY NOT!!!
