Walt Disney Theater Lobby Italian Marble Picture
On both the Magic and the Wonder there is this beautiful picture of Walt Disney leaning on a gorgeous Grand Piano. The picture is done with Italian Marble in Sepia Tones.
You see Walt leaning gracefully on the piano with his left arm and hand tucked behind his other arm. You see his right hand almost in a
fist resting on the piano. Look at the hand closely! The fingers have been
cropped off so it looks like he is holding something in his closed hand.
Walt was a chain smoker and always had a cigarette in his right hand. He also felt it was a bad habit and did not want to promote it. He had a policy/rule that no picture of him smoking could be published. So when the imagineers chose this picture they decided to honor Walt’s policy on pictures of him smoking. They cropped off the fingers holding and removed the offending cigarette. What they left in was the smoke wafting around Walt’s head! Look closely above his head and you can see a puff of smoke there!
