Pirate Night & the Pirate Night Deck Party/Fireworks

Pirate Night & the Pirate Night Deck Party with Fireworks

Most Disney Cruises have Pirate Night with a Deck Party and Fireworks. Cruises to Alaska and Norway do not have Fireworks for safety reasons. Some 3-Night cruises do not have Pirate Night.

So what is Pirate Night?? Actually, it starts around 2pm with Characters coming out dressed as Pirates! You will see Pirate Mickey, Pirate Wench Minnie, Pirate Chip & Dale, Pirate Stitch, Pirate Goofy, along with some real Disney Pirates like, Captain Hook, Smee, Captain and Jack Sparrow. They are out there for you to take pictures with!

You can bring your own Pirate Gear to dress up and join the fun! Some people do not dress up. Some will have Pirate Themed T-Shirts. Then there are those that go all out and bring their own gear and dress like a swashbuckler, Captain or maybe one of the famous Disney Pirates like Captain Hook, Smee, Barbosa, or Captain Jack. You can go to Bibbidi-Bobbidi Boutique for a Pirate League make over! Just know it is NOT required but it sure can add to the fun!

Dinner time is Pirate Themed with a special Menu that is the same in every restaurant. Your SERVING STAFF JOINS THE Pirates for the night in full Pirate Attire.

After Diner you can head up to deck Pool Deck or the Deck above the pools to join the fun on Deck. The Pool is covered and there is a stage under the Funnel Vision Screen. Pirates come out and lead the guests wishing to join them in their plundering in dancing the evening away. Disney Characters join the fun and dance around with the guests. Around 9:30 – 10 pm the Pirates are chased off and Fireworks are shot off the Starboard side of the ship! That finishes off the Pirate Deck Party. A Pirate Buffet follows in either Cabanas or Marceline Market. Often after the party they show one of the Pirates in the Caribbean movies on the Funnel Vision Screen and you can cuddle up in deck chairs placed to make you more comfortable. They will also bring out extra blankets for you to cover up with.

There is something special about the Fireworks! The fireworks are Eco-friendly! Instead of being wrapped in Plastic or Cardboard they are wrapped in Corn Paper!! When they fall into the sea the fish can eat them! They are also launched by Air Cannons, so it does not pollute the air either.

Here are my Pro-Tips for enjoying the Pirate Fun, best restaurant for the evening, and viewing the Deck Party and Fireworks:

1.      Look at your Navigator App to see when and where the Pirate Characters will be.

2.     In my opinion being in Animator’s Palate for Pirate is the most fun! In Animator’s there is a special animated show displaying art from different Disney movies with Pirate.

3.      If you wish to see both the fireworks and the dancing:

a.     go to the deck above the pool deck on the Port side (the Left side of the ship if you are facing the bow.) Snag a spot near the wall where you can look down on the party below, see the Funnel Vision Screen and get a clear view of the Fireworks as they light up the sky on the Starboard (Right side of the ship if you are facing the bow of the ship.) side of the ship.

b.     This is also good if you do not do with in packed crowds. You have a clear spot in front of you.

c.      This works well if you have Main Dining and leave the restaurant early.

4.     If you wish to have character interaction and the excitement of being in the middle of it all:

a.     Go to the pool deck where the stage is.

b.     Join the fun and dance the evening away!!

c.      Watch for you and your crew to be highlighted on the Funnel Vision Screen!

d.     Be aware you will have a harder time seeing the Fireworks from there.

5.      If you wish what I consider to be the best view of the Fireworks head to the deck above the pool deck on the Starboard Side:

a.     Get next to the outer wall looking over the sea.

b.     You can still see the Funnel Vision Screen and therefore see what is going on below.

c.      The Fireworks are shot from the back of the ship on the Starboard Side towards the Bow. You can see the entire flight of the fireworks from this area.

In case you have not figured it out we are Big Pirate Night Fans and consider it our favorite night of every cruise. If you ever cruise with us you will see one of the most unique Pirate outfits. It is one of the most authentic PotC1 movie outfits. I do not share pictures often because we want to have fun figuring it out and enjoy the surprise.
