Disneyland’s New Orleans Square at
Christmas
New
Orleans Square is the first area to start getting Christmas decorations every
year. It starts mid-September with the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay of
the Haunted Mansion.
The
Haunted Mansion Holiday Overlay is not just on the inside it is outside as well
with Jack Skellington scare crows, Jack-O-Lanterns, Christmas lights and Sandy
Claws Naught/Nice list hanging off the roof.
When
the overlay happens to the Haunted Mansion a mix of Halloween and Christmas
decor starts to show up around the area. Black garland with sculls are placed
above the entrances of some of the restaurants’ such as the French Market Café.
In
early November the regular Christmas décor starts to show up on 2nd
story ‘apartment’ balconies on the side street and in the big trees next to the
restaurants. By the time it is all done in mid-November the area is awash with
vibrant colors. Mardi Gras beads hang over the balcony railings along with
Christmas lights.
This
is one area I must stop and see during Christmas. It is both colorful and
whimsical. There are also several
romantic spots to just sit and listen to the music or just watch people.
