The inaugural Disney Destiny Walt Disney Theatre cast has arrived in Papenburg, Germany! The group headed onto the ship for a first look at the venue where they will spend the coming weeks putting the finishing touches on three Broadway-Style stage shows, including fleet favorites “Disney Seas the Adventure” and “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular” and the all-new “Disney Hercules.”

Before going the distance to Germany, the cast spent 11 weeks at Disney Cruise Line’s entertainment facility in Toronto, Canada, learning dialogue, choreography, and other show material for “Disney Hercules.” They prepared high-energy numbers, like “Zero to Hero,” using rehearsal puppets, sample costume pieces, and scenic elements similar to those on the Walt Disney Theatre stage.

 

As the cast steps into the spotlight at the Walt Disney Theatre, they will begin incorporating technical elements into their rehearsals, including costumes, sets, and state-of-the-art-puppetry, to help bring the Walt Disney Animation Studios film to the stage like never before.

Disney Destiny – Saga Lounge/Entertainment Venue

Disney Destiny – Saga Lounge/Entertainment Venue

Disney Destiny, like her sister ships Wish and Treasure, has a 2-story entertainment venue just off the Grand Hall. Main Seating is on Deck 3 and Balcony Seating is on Deck 4. This is located just forward of the Grand Hall Lobby.

 

During the day this is where things like family-friendly Trivia and some show type entertainment will be held. This is a family-friendly location during the day. The theme of this area is Black Panther. You can purchase specialty drinks here, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. After 9 pm Saga becomes an adult only entertainment lounge with adult themed shows. You will find everything from game show style audience participation, trivia contests, comedians dancing, and other live entertainment.

If you have been on a Disney Cruise before, think of D Lounge. This area is quite larger and more open than D Lounge. D Lounge has a small stage and Saga has a much larger one. D Lounge is often overcrowded and if you don’t get there early enough it is full, and you can’t get in. This is where things like trivia, dancing and special events like Mrs. Claus Storytime on Merrytime Cruises happen. These events are switching to the new larger location.

Like the other Wish-Class ships Destiny has a Grand Hall instead of an Atrium Lobby. Destiny’s Grand Hall is themed after Wakanda from Black Panther. From the colors of the walls, carpet to the style of the pilers it is all a reminder of Wakanda, her warriors and beloved King. There is a beautiful statue of King T’Challa and a Black Panther in the Hall.

 

The Grand Hall is a focal point of the ship. This is where you will enter the ship from the Port Terminal on Embarkation Day. This is where you will spend a lot of time throughout your cruise. The Grand Hall is 3 stories tall. Deck 3 is the Main Area and Decks 4 and 5 are shops and lounges. When there are events on Deck 3 and that level is full you can go to Deck 4 or 5 and have a bird’s eye view of the celebration.

 

At times throughout the cruise Loki will cause havoc in the Grand Hall attempting to “take over” the ship. At other times you may see Cruella De Vill strut through on her way to her lounge, De Vil’s.

Deck 3:

The Main Dining Restaurant, 1923 is toward the Aft side of the Grand Hall. The 2 dining rooms are named in honor of Walt (Port Side) and Roy (Starboard Side) Disney. This Main Dining Room serves Classic California cuisine for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The theme is 1920’s Hollywood Gilts and Glam. Both rooms have displays of Disney Movie memorabilia. From Character Concept art to 3-D Models you will find lots of Disney History.

There is the Grand Hall Stage, Center of the Ship towards Forward. This is a small stage on the other side of the Grand Hall from 1923. There will be some shows and such on this little stage. From Mickey and Minnie to Loki Characters will show up to thrill you on this little stage.

 

You will find Shutter Photographers in the Grand Hall throughout the day taking pictures with characters and props. Check your Navigator app for times and characters. In the evening the photographers will be in the Hall taking pictures again. Some will be with characters, props, and others will have professional backdrops for you to take pictures with.

 

A Kids Club check-in desk is in the Grand Hall on the Port Side. There is a slide from Deck 3 to Deck 2 for the kids to take directly to the Kids Club! Adults can try out the slide on embarkation day and during Open House Hours for the Kids Club. You can check the Navigator App for Kids Club Open House hours.

 

Also check out the Grand Hall at midnight for a special magical moment from the ship. (They do it several times throughout the evening for the littles to enjoy as well. At this point it has not been announced what it will be. On the Wish the chandelier and walls have special lighting and at midnight you hear A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes.)

De Vil’s Piano Lounge is on the Port Side of the ship toward the Front of the ship. This little Piano Bar is themed after 101 Dalmatian’s’ Cruella De Vil. The Piano is painted with Dalmatian Spots. Cruella sometimes comes to visit her lounge.

 

On the Starboard Side of the ship, towards the Forward of the Ship is the Grand Hall Collection Shop. This gift shop, as well as all other shops will not be open while the ship is in port. The ship must be a required distance from shore before shops can open.

Saga main seating area is on the other side of the Small Grand Hall stage, Deck 3 Center Ship, towards the Forward of the ship. Saga is a family entertainment area by day with shows and contests throughout the day. In the evening it becomes an adult only lounge with entertainment. Check the Navigator App for scheduled events. This is a two-story venue.

 

Deck 4:

Saga Balcony Seating, is located Center Forward of the Ship. This is additional seating for Saga. You can get a good view of the stage from up here if you wish.

 

Guest Services Desk is on the Port Side toward Aft. This is where you go if you have any questions, concerns or just need a little help.

 

The DVC Desk is on the Starboard Side toward Aft. If you are a DVC member stop and say hi! See what they have to offer to DVC members. If you are not a DVC member, you can find information on how to become one.

 

Untangled Salon is Aft of the Grand Hall, Port Side. Untangled Salon is a beauty salon for women looking to get their hair styled or nails done. It is themed after Rapunzel from Tangled. Great location to pamper yourself.

 

Café Megara is Center Ship. Café Megara is a walk-up Café themed after Megara from Hercules. Feeling like you need to grab a snack? Step into Café Megara and feed your inner Hero! There is an additional charge for this location.

 

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is Starboard Side Aft of the Grand Hall. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is where the kids can get made up as their favorite princess, prince or pirate. There various packages you can purchase. From just hair and make-up to full makeover with an outfit.

 

Deck 5

Art on Demand is located on the Aft Port Side of the ship. This is where you can order prints of select Disney Art. Some of the art is limited to the ships.

 

Mickey’s Mainsail Shop is Aft Portside on this Deck. This is where you can find more TShirts, Swimsuits, Toys and such. All shops are closed while the ship is in port.

 

Shopping Ambassador is on the Starboard Side. This is where you can get help finding that perfect keepsake from your Disney Cruise.

 

DVC, Starboard Side, this is where DVC events will be held. Want to take the time to listen to the DVC sail pitch to see if it is right for you? This is where you want to be. They give prizes for attending.

 

Shutters, Starboard Side is where you can purchase some camera supplies and order photo packages and prints of pictures from the cruise.

 

Shutters Portrait Studio, Starboard Side is where you will go to get your special Portraits taken. This is not included in the Unlimited Digital Download Photo Package.

 

Café Merida, is a walk-up café where you can grab a quick bite to eat. This is themed after Merida from the movie Brave. This is an additional charge.

Disney Destiny will be leaving the Meyer Werft Shipyard and heading down the Ems River September 19, 2025, at 11:30 pm local time (Germany). This will be 6 hours earlier for the USA EST and 9 hours earlier for PST.

Disney Destiny is headed out for her Sea Trials. We wish her the best and hope she passes.

What Not to Pack in Your Cruise Check-In or Check-Out Bags

We all know it is best, and honestly easier to let the porters take your bags onto the ship and directly to your cabin. If you take a suitcase, carryon, and a personal bag and walk it onto the ship you must keep it with you until your cabin is ready. That could be as late as 2pm. Why not just check EVERYTHING?? You might wonder why you should not put some items in your check-in bag. Let me tell you a story or two to help explain.

When I was leaving the hotel to board the ship for our cruise I saw a family walking into the hotel. They were very distraught. Their special needs son’s suitcase, with his comfort plush, blanket, tablet and favorite clothes had fallen into the water as the dock workers carried the bags from the ship.

The ship should have left port by 5 pm that evening but during dinner that night the captain announced that there was an issue, and divers were “in the water” looking for some things. I thought it was the items that the family told us about back at the hotel. It was not! Another family of 4 had all their checked bags accidentally go off the dock into the ocean as they were being brought onboard! It took several days for the family to get the suitcases that were retrieved back. Bags going overboard not once but twice in the same day!

A  family watched their bags go onto the ship after turning them in. They literally saw their bags go up the gangplank and onto the ship. But two bags never made it to the cabin. The two missing bags had vital medical equipment. One bag ended up outside the medical bay. Their cabin was Deck 7–Aft and the Medical Bay is Deck 1-Forward! The other bag was found back on the port in the terminal. Thankfully both bags were found before the ship left port. If they had not the family would have had to get off and not go on the cruise. They could not travel without that required medical equipment.

Another time we were delayed disembarking. The goal is to clear the ship by 9:30-10am so they can have a couple hours to clean and ready the ship for the next sailing. Debarkation did not start after 11:30am! The reason? Police Activity in the port terminal. Someone had taken their children on the cruise, but they were not the custodial parent. They had kidnapped their kids. They knew there was an arrest warrant out for them. Officials were waiting for them at the port. The person jumped off their veranda and landed on a stack of luggage!! What if that was your bag?

Here is the real deal. The port workers take your bag and toss it onto carts with lots of other bags. They get tossed, stacked, crushed, bumped and then are tossed around again. Fragile items can get broken, suitcases get broken, accidents happen, and suitcases get lost. Most people are honest and good. There is always a small percentage that are not good. Your suitcases could be broken into or stolen. Why take the chance with valuables?

Let’s talk about things you are not allowed to check and must carry on. There are also things that are important to keep with you.

Important to keep with you:

• Identification – Proof of Citizenship
• Medication
• Swimsuits if you wish to swim before your luggage comes
• I suggest at least one change of clothing and PJs just in case your luggage arrives after dinner or even the next day

Must Carry On:

• Alcohol (DCL policy is 2 bottles of Wine or 6 bottles of Beer per adult.)
• Bottled Water  and Soda(DCL allows you to bring water/soda)

 

Now for the things you cannot or should not put in your checked bags.

Can’t go in Checked Bags by Policy and Must Be Carried On:

• Alcohol
• Bottled Water/Soda
• Food – Factory sealed no open or homemade

Should Not go in Checked Bags:

• Valuables

• Classic California Cuisine.
• 1920’s Hollywood Glitz and Glam feel with Disney Memorabilia on display. Every Disney geek will love checking out this restaurant to see the history of Disney on display.
• This restaurant is on both of the other Wish-Class ships. There is a slight theme difference between the ships. I anticipate there being a Hero/Villain theme for Destiny.
• This restaurant has 2 separate rooms, the Walt Disney and the Roy Disney dining rooms. You will be seated in one room so I suggest you look to see if it is open for Breakfast or Lunch so you can get a look at both rooms.
• This restaurant is located off of the Grand Hall Lobby, Midship, on Deck 3.

Worlds of Marvel

• This restaurant’s menu is inspired by the Marvel Movies, Black Panther, the Avengers, Quicksilver & the Scarlet Witch.
• This restaurant is themed in the Marvel Universe and there is both video and live entertainment during dinner.
• The show for Destiny has not been announced yet. Between Destiny’s sister ships, there are already 2 different shows for this restaurant. Wish has a show with Spider-Man and Captain America saving the ship. Treasure also uses this same show. In addition, Treasure has a show where Groot wants to show Rocket, he is appreciated by celebrating his birthday!
• This restaurant is located on Deck 4, Aft. The entrance is  on the Port Side of the ship.

Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King

• Authentic African spice blends, sauces, grains and produce will underscore this exceptional dining experience.
• There will be live Broadway style entertainment with the music of the Lion King during the meal.
• This restaurant is located on Deck 5, Aft. The entrance is on the Port Side of the ship.

What I’ve Noticed about Disney Adventure’s Current Status.

It has officially been stated by Disney Cruise Line that the Maiden Voyage of the Disney Adventure has been postponed until March 10^th, 2026. The official statement says, “Disney Adventure represents a bold new chapter for Disney Cruise Line, as we transform a partially built vessel into a fully reimagined Disney experience at sea. As Disney Cruise Line brings this vision to life, we’ve encountered unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process.”

 

I noticed in the pictures of Adventure docked at the shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany that the funnels are still behind scaffolding. I also noticed that the Roller Coaster was not fully installed until just before they left for Sea Trials.

 

The public needs to understand that Disney Cruise Line did not purpose build Adventure. The history of Disney Adventure is different than any other Disney Ship. A Chinese Cruise Line ordered the ship build at a shipyard in Wismer, Germany. During the Covid Pandemic the Cruise Line went bankrupt and then the shipyard went under. The partly built ship sat unfinished for several years in the abandoned shipyard. The ship was about to be sold for scrap when Disney Cruise Line stepped in and purchased the ship and asked Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenberg, Germany to take over the construction. This is a HUGE undertaking.

 

The ship was partly built to the specifications of a different cruise line. Smaller cabins, different entertainment and eating venues along with completely different special elements like lighting and even rides. Disney had to reimagine the ship build using what was already existing and changing what they could. I honestly believe not all infrastructure of the ship could be altered to Disney standards. It was just not possible to change some things that had already been constructed. Disney did what they could. They added things to the ship, connecting them to systems that were not specifically designed for them. This would include many “show elements” on the ship.

 

It is my thought that they could not know if some of the systems would work until Sea Trials. I think they found some “show elements” and maybe even some operational systems that were not up to standards. Disney did not wish to put on a “Bad Show”. They delayed the Maiden Voyage for the safety and good show for the guests.

 

Hang in there! She will sail! She will do amazing cruises out of Singapore! Better to wait for the ship to be complete than have a partly working ship.

We know many Guests and Travel Advisors have been eagerly anticipating the debut of the Disney Adventure. This ship represents a bold new chapter for Disney Cruise Line, as we transform a partially built vessel into a fully reimagined Disney experience at sea.

 

As Disney Cruise Line brings this vision to life, we’ve encountered unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process. To ensure every detail meets the high standards Guests expect from Disney, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the Disney Adventure’s Maiden Voyage to March 10, 2026.

 

We regret that this change will affect upcoming sailings. We understand how disappointing this news may be for Guests and sincerely apologize for the impact on their vacation plans.

To that end, we would like to extend the following to impacted Guests:

• For Guests that were booked on the original Maiden Voyage, we would like to offer them the opportunity to sail on the new Maiden Voyage scheduled for March 10, 2026, at a 50% discount of their voyage fare. *No action is necessary if Guests are able to join us on this new sailing date. We will automatically shift their reservation to the new Maiden Voyage, and Travel Advisors can expect to receive a confirmation with an updated statement reflecting their reduced fare by October 8, 2025. If Guests are unable to sail on the new Maiden Voyage, we ask that Travel Advisors inform us by September 21, 2025 to request a refund of any amounts paid to Disney Cruise Line to the original form of payment. Guests then may use their 50% discount on a future cruise.
• For Guests with bookings on all other cancelled sailings, we will automatically refund any amounts paid to Disney Cruise Line to the original form of payment and provide them with a 50% discount on their voyage fare for use on a future cruise. Their future cruise may be booked upon receipt of the cancellation confirmation of their original sailing.
• To use the future cruise discount, the future cruise must be booked by March 31, 2026, and must depart before March 31, 2027. Please see below for additional terms and limitations.
• The 50% future cruise discount will be notated and visible on each Guest account by October 8, 2025. If booking prior to this date, please note that the discount will not be visible at the time of booking. You will receive an updated confirmation statement reflecting this discount once it is applied, within 72 hours.

*The 50% future cruise discount is applicable only to the eligible Guest’s voyage fare for a new booking. Where is Disney Adventure and What is Next?

Disney Adventure is sitting in the port of Bremerhaven, Germany. They will look over the Sea Trial results and make decisions about ships systems needing more work. While there they will do some final work that must be done while in dock and take on supplies and crew for her trip to Singapore.

 

Once she leaves Bremerhaven, I believe she will sail between the Africa and the South America continents and go around the Cape of Good Hope. Adventure should arrive at the Port of Los Angeles, Ca on November 6^th. Adventure will leave Los Angeles on November 18^th and start her trip to Singapore.

 

On her way to Los Angeles the crew will do any final touches needed on the ship to ensure she is ready for guests. They will practice serving meals, caring for cabins and performing shows as they travel as well.

 

Disney Adventure’s Maiden Voyage will be December 15^th, 2025, out of the Port at Singapore. She will sail out of Singapore for the foreseeable future. There is a 5 year contract for Singapore at this time. She will do 4-8-Night cruises with no port stops.

The Fall 2026 – Spring 2027 itineraries were just released. I believe that the Summer 2027 – Fall 2027 itineraries will be released by December or January, maybe a little sooner. The closer you book to the release date the better pricing and cabin choice you get.

 

Do you want to plan a Summer 2027 Alaskan Cruise?? It is true the dates are not out yet but there is some interesting information that was released with the Fall 2026 to Spring 2027 itineraries!

 

At the end of the Spring 27 itineraries, after some sailings out of San Diego, Ca, both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder are being deployed to Vancouver, Canada. Why is this information so interesting?? Well let me tell you!! Vancouver is where the ships sail from when doing Alaska Cruises! Summer 2027 will be a repeat of Summer 2026 with both Magic and Wonder going to Alaska! This is exciting news for those who are looking to do Alaska on a Disney Ship!

 

Going further into Fall of 2027 it has been announced that one or both the Magic and Wonder will be going to Catalina Island, Ca almost year-round! Get ready for West Coast Disney Cruising!! This has been confirmed by both DCL and Catalina Island Port Authority! This is a possible 15 year contract.

 

Another interesting thing at the end of the current 2027 itinerary, is the lack of itineraries for the Disney Wish. It just says To Be Announced. I think, but I have no proof that Wish will be going to Europe for the Summer of 2027. Her missing itineraries happen to coincide with the times that a Disney Ship leaves to go to Europe.

 

I believe the next Wish-Class Ship, currently being buildt, should be on the summer 2027 itineraries! At this point we have no information on this ship, other than the metal cutting ceremony happened and construction has started! Historically, the length of time it takes to complete the build is around the end of the current itineraries. I believe the 4th Wish-Class ship will join the fleet sometime in April-June of 2027. She may take Wish’s place at Port Canaveral, Fl or be part of the Fleet sailing from Fort Lauderdale, Fl.

Yes, you can easily book your Disney Parks, Disney Cruise, Disney Aulani, Adventure by Disney or any other Disney Destination on your own. Most of the websites are easy to understand and work though. So, why would you book with a Travel Agent instead of doing it yourself??

 

Do you know all the ins and outs of the destination you are booking? Are you up to date on any policy changes? Look for a Travel Agent who keeps up on these things for you.

Agents spend days/weeks learning about a specific destination before they are allowed to book it for a client. That Travel Agent may have gone to Disneyland hundreds of times, but they are required to take the online classes and pass the tests before they can book.

• Travel Agents are required to keep up with the changes at the destinations they book.
• Do you know about any and all special offers/discounts? Travel Agents spend time doing this on an ongoing basis.
• Do you know about all the different requirements for your travel?
• Will you need a passport?
• Are there any prohibited items you may have not thought about?
• Are you ready to sit on hold for hours waiting to book your trip, make a special request, or ask a question? As an agent I’ve seen hold times go to 3+ hours for DCL.
• Disney, and most other destinations add the commissions to the price you see on their websites. If you don’t use an agent, the destination is keeping that extra money. In other words, you are PAYING for the services of a Travel Agent, and you are doing the all the work yourself!
• Do you have someone in your travel party with a special need?
• Mobility, hearing, vision or health issue? A TA should be able to ask questions and smooth the way for you.
• Are you prepared to deal with any issues that come up while booking, pre-vacation or during your vacation?
• Should you get Trip Protection or Trip Insurance?
• How do you deal with a travel delay, cancelation or a weather issue that impacts your trip?
• If you are unhappy with service or accommodation, do you wish to take time out of your trip to deal with it? Would it be easier to make a call to your Travel Agent to see if they can resolve the issue for you?

 

These are just a few of the reasons to consider using a Travel Agent. The choice is yours.

 

Things you want in a Travel Agent:

• The Agent has training/certification on the destination you desire to go to.
• An example is a current College of Disney Knowledge Update Certificate.
• The Agency requires the agent makes payments for you directly to the DESTINATION using a Credit/Debit card and refuses all cash payments. (Disney Gift Cards are a different subject. Not all Agents/Agencies accept them.)
• The Agency requires you to sign a Debit/Credit/Disney Gift Card Authorization Form giving them permission to use your card to pay the destination for you. This can be an e-signature or a physical signature.
• A Credit/Debit/Gift Card Authorization Form protects both the Client and the Travel Agent/Agency.
• How it Protects the Client:
• This form limits the amount of money to be charged.
• Keeps the Agent/Agency from “holding” your funds.
• Limits where the card can be used.
• Example: You book a Disney Parks stay the charge can only be made for booking at that resort.
• All charges must be for the stated reservation.
• How it Protects the Agent/Agency:
• It gives documentation of your consent to make that payment.
• It clearly states how much the client wants each payment to be.
• If the government wants to check records for proof that the agency is not mishandling or holding funds for a client this is necessary.
• The Agent makes sure to send confirmation of bookings and payments.

 

Things you do not want in a Travel Agent:

• The agent has no training on the destination you desire.
• The Agent/Agency only accepts cash payments or charges Credit/Debit cards to the agent or agency, not the destinations.
• If the Agent/Agency only accepts cash, ask for proof of an active Bond or Trust Account. If they cannot provide this information be careful.
• There have been cases where the agent/agency makes the deposit and then cancels the trip taking the money and running. This is real fraud and has cost the traveling public millions. The number of cases of this have decreased greatly over the past 10 years due to new laws and public awareness.
• There is minimal documentation of bookings and payments. You don’t get paperwork, you should!
