March 9th, Disney Wonder ~ Puerto Vallarta
Today we had a relaxing morning. We got up and went to the Beach Blanked Buffet for breakfast again. This is our favorite place for breakfast because you can pick and choose what you wish to eat and it has a wide verity of food. The "flowers" they had at the start of the food line were made of potato slices and carrots.
After breakfast we met up with our friends to go off the ship to see the port area. We can see a Walmart and Sam’s Club across the street from the port! We did not go out of the port gates and our friends went as far as Walmart to get bottled water. Bottled water is very expensive on the ship so the advice is bring it if you drive yourself to the dock. While we were off the ship we purchased a gift for our daughter. Then back to the ship for lunch and a quick shower before watching Tron - Legacy in the Buena Vista Theater with our friends. After the movie it was time to get ready for dinner.
Tonight Dinner was in Parrot Cay! The meal was tropical island style foods. The service and food were amazing per usual! Our servers are fun to watch as they move around the room. When they see a person, adult or child that seems to be unhappy or not having a great time they will spend a few minutes “playing” with them. They will make napkin hats and puppets to play with. They will stick with that person until they get a smile or until the person requests they leave. Tonight there was a little girl at the table next to us that was unhappy for some reason. The servers make napkin hats and put them on the entire family and when that did not quite work they made a “mouse” with a napkin and played with the little girl until she was laughing.
After dinner the life stage show was “Toy Story the Musical.” Once again it was fast paced fun show packed full of wonderful music. They added a lot of new songs to the Toy Story music book. In fact most of the songs are new. Disney had thought of bringing this show to Disney California Adventure to replace the Aladdin the Musical show in the Hyperion Theater there.
When Disney announced they were going to take Aladdin out of DCA and bring in Toy Story many AP holder of the Disneyland Resort complained. Having seen the show I agree it was a good idea not to bring this show to the Hyperion. It is a good show well worth seeing, but in my opinion I do not believe it will keep people coming back over and over to see it. There is no place to change things or adlib parts. In Aladdin several parts are given leeway to adlib and change things so the show is slightly different each time you see it.
After the show we were tired but not ready for bed. We decided to sit in the Cadillac Lounge to listen to the piano playing of Fred Potyin. He is amazing!! He plays jazz and we enjoyed requesting some very old classic favorites. After he was done with his shift at the piano he sat down with us and we talked for about another 30 minutes or so about many different topics. He is an intelligent and fun person to talk to. Check out his blog at FingersFred.com. He went down the lift to us back to our room and we said our good nights when we reached our deck.
